The International Program at Glasir is an upper secondary course, where all lessons and teaching materials are in English, with the exception of the courses in Faroese and foreign language studies, such as German and French.
The program is designed to give students – foreign or Faroese – an upper secondary education with an international study profile and improving access to higher educational institutions and universities.
Most of the program’s subjects and levels are obligatory , while some subjects are optional.
Foreign language students can be excempted from taking Faroese A. In that case you will need another A level. See the student’s consultants for further information.
When applying, your only choice to make is between Music B or Visual Arts C.
It is obligatory to complete at least 4 A levels and 3 B levels.
The optional subjects that are available, the 2nd and 3rd year are Chemistry B, Phycics C, Cultural understanding C or Psychology C.
In order to apply you must have:
● completed the 9th grade of the Faroese public school system, or have an equivalent education
● taken the 9th grade exams in written Faroese, Danish, English and Mathematics
● taken the 9th grade oral exams as set by the Ministry of Education.
You have completed the above exams with results that show you are able to study at the upper secondary level. If an applicant does not meet one or some of the above requirements, the school may on a case by case basis assess whether an applicant is able to study at the upper secondary level.
On completing their upper secondary education, students are eligible to apply for degrees in higher education. In some subjects, the exams of this two-year programme may be at a lower level than exams in the three-year programmes, which may result in certain limitations, e.g. certain degrees might require an applicant to take additional exams in some subjects to attain a higher level.
